    Phil,

Your film is very touching and has a lot of heart. If I could offer some constructive criticism, I believe your characters are drained of any emotional heft by blunt dialogue and undeveloped conflicts. There are subtler more affecting ways to reveal a child's domestic difficulties than having voiceover's state within the first 30 seconds that he has a cheating, alcoholic step-father and a inept mother. Later in the film, you touch on the internal conflict of the son when he calls the police to protect his mother, yet she yells at him. He didn't know what he did wrong, he was tormented. I would love to see you explore the son's anxiety due to not understanding his mother's desperate need to cling to an abusive husband, (which she apparently does a lot!). Thanks for your film and I can't wait to see what you do next.
